Add some color to your spring!

10 Mar

I have been trying new fun looks. Inspired through photos and colors. There are all sorts of “peacock” eyes some if you look up on google are scary, but some are kind of fun. I wouldn’t suggest this for every age or every eyeshape and definitely not everyday. But this was my take on a peacock eye or multicolor eye. The vibrancy of the blue didnt turn out but I still think it turned out great. I had a lot of compliments and it was just fun! So the reason why I got on this kick of color I was tempted to do streaks of color in my hair like 4 different shades in the front. Decided it was too dramatic, but decided I could change and do some more colorful makeup than usual. So this is my take I have talked about the best color of shadow for your eyes is opposite of the color wheel not green with green, or blue with blue. However if you want to add a little color a little fun I don’t think there is anything wrong with wearing those colors you want to ground your eye with a matte brown to shape the eye and than choose the best colors based off of your skin tone and what you want to try! Have Fun! It is just makeup it won’t kill you. One of the looks I will show later was with green didn’t know if I liked it it was my least favorite at the beginning, but I finished it. By the end I loved how it turned out! Remember it I’d just makeup not brain surgery you can always wash it off if you decide you hate it, but give it a chance :). Lol although I would recommend trying something you aren’t sure of on a slow day not when you have to be at an appt in an hr. Because you might not have enough time to start and do it over 🙂

Eyeliner? Dos and don’ts!!

10 Sep

Ok there are a lot of people that wonder how to do the perfect eyeliner.  Do you line the top or bottom?  Do you only line the bottom.  Do you line half way?  What are the Do’s and Don’ts.  Ok so I was watch So You Think You Can Dance!  I know some of you might love it some of you might hate it, but I always find interest in how they do makeup.  And one of the girls was supposed to look kind of older and tired.  And this is what made me start thinking about this post in the first place.  So depending on the size of your eyes you don’t want to much eyeliner like the first one.  You can always do eyeliner on just the top line, but you might not want to do the winged eye if your eye naturally droops it is hard to get the right winged eye look.  If you do the top great!!  But you should NEVER just do the bottome!!  That is a no no it makes you look old and tired and that is EXACTLY how this dancers makeup was and I just had to laugh and thus do this post!! 🙂  And ladies don’t just go halfway it just looks like you forgot to go the rest of the way.  I think it just looks so ridiculous.  You can always do thicker on the outer edge and get thinner as you come into the inner eye, but smudge the line make sure some of the color goes in eyeliner is supposed to be where your lashes come out to make them look thicker and more enhanced but if you do to think of a line or go halfway or only do your bottom lash it can look bad all the way around!!  Also PS if you try to google or search for pictures

of people wearing eyeliner halfway on the bottom line or eyeliner only on the bottome lash line.  They are like non existant.  It was hard to find these two.  So if most people don’t do it and especially celebrities and makeup artists.  It is probably a good idea not to do it.  JUST a THOUGHT!!  🙂  Happy Makeup Monday!!

Beauty Blender!!

20 Aug

Ok so I love this I have used a lot of tools to put on my makeup; foundation brushes, sponges, hands, and the beauty blender.  I have gone back and forth using different ones through the years.  I absolutely love almost all except my hands I would always touch my clothes and make a big mess 🙂  But recently I switched back to the beauty blender and I do LOVE it I think the foundation brush was a little heavier application I usually do two lighter layers so I actually get it done faster because you can use the fatter end and put it on more surface.  I really do LOVE it and I love this cute little you tube clip!!  Let me know what you think!

Deep Set Eyes!

11 Jun

One of the best things you can do is Highlight your lid.  God gave you a crease you don’t need to deepen it.  So instead of hightlighting your brow bone like all the other eye shapes you want do put midtone on it.  You are trying to push back your browbone and bring forward your lid.  You also want to be very light handed with your accent color.  Just on the very corner of your eye don’t bring very much into the crease.  Demi or her make up artist 🙂 did a really good job in this picture.  She is such a natural beauty I think.  Deep set eyes can tend to be a hooded eye as you age so make sure you use a FABULOUS eye cream to help with wrinkles!  Deep set eyes are beautiful help them guide them to be that way!

Wide Set Eyes!

4 Jun

The way you figure out if you have wide set eyes is if you take the length of the eye and try to fit it in the middle of both eyes if you have extra space than you have wide set eyes.  Wide Set eyes this is for sure one of the eye shapes you would NOT want to do the Cat eye.  Bring as much dark color into the inner corner.  You really want to layer in that inner corner.  Usually you would put the accent color in to the iris the middle of the pupil.  With the wide set eyes you want to pull in in farther than that.  I have a friend that has wide set eyes and seeing without her makeup  is strange because I hardly ever see her without it 🙂 I hate to say that.  But when she applies it the right way it works and looks FABULOUSLY!!!  I chose this picture because her makeup is not doing her any favors.  She needs to pull that color farther over and has too much highlight or not enough midtone.

Close set Eyes!

28 May

Close set eyes are figured if you can’t fit the length in between both your eyes than you have close set eyes.  Alright so I am using celebrities because I want you to see that just because you have one doesn’t mean you should be upset or think it is the wrong one.  At first I thought mine was a negative, but I really have found I love playing with my own specific colors and applications.  When you have close set eyes.  The one thing you for sure don’t want to do is have a really dark accent and pull it super far into the other eye.  The more you pull it in the closer they appear.  So the accent color you want to make sure you leave it just on the outside and you can for sure do that cat eye look.  That would specifically work really great with this eye shape.  So think about that.  You can wing it out.  This is the one eye shape that if you want to go outside of the line of the corner to your eye brow you can.  It won’t be a bad thing.  So remember that.  When choosing how to make it look more dramatic.  Instead of pulling it farther in push it out a little bit.

Droopy Eyes

21 May

We can always tweek our makeup to make things appear a little differently.  For the next couple of weeks I am going to do a series of how you should change your makeup based off your eye shape.  If you have a droopy eye the corner of your eye turns down a little bit.  Some people might want to raise it a little bit.  When you do your midtone and you do your accent you don’t want to pull it down you want to raise it a bit.  Normally you don’t want to pull color any farther than diagonal from the corner of your eye to the tip of your eyebrow, but especially with a droopy eye you want to lift it a little bit higher.  You also want to leave a little space in between your eye liner of the top and bottom lid.  If you connect them than you drag your eye down ward again.  If you do this you will be amazed at what a little change of where you are placing you color can affect how lifted your eyes look after!  Give it a try and let me know what you think.  Deep, close, prominent, wide set eyes are all Yet to come 🙂

Beautiful Eyes Series!

14 May

Check back for the Beautiful eye series in Mastering Makeup Mondays.  I loved learning from International Makeup Artist Robert Jones and one of the first things I really tried to master was how to apply eye makeup for specific eye shapes.  Today we will focus on the basic or sometimes people will refer to it as a standard eye.  Either way you don’t have to tweek your eye shadow to make your eye look any way this is the ideal eye shape, or the eye shape most people want to make their eyes look like.  A lot of people really forget the middle color the midtone it is usually the most boring of the three.  But it makes the biggest difference!  Highlight color should be skin colored or a shade or two lighter.   The midtone is usually a shade of brown this shad is usually matte.

It makes a HUGE difference in a lot of eye shapes.  It gives depth to your eye.  You will be surprised how much more sophisticated your makeup looks when you use all three correctly.  The accent color frames the outer part of your eye and if you choose the right color it can emphasis the color your eye as well.  If you remember the blog post I did about choosing colors  Go opposite of the color wheel if you want to make your eyes pop!  Now that is not to say someone with blue eyes can’t wear blue but if you want to POP your blue eyes you shouldn’t 🙂  I just say don’t do it on a regular day basis 🙂  Hope you love my series.  Check out for the next 5 or 6 weeks!  Hope you enjoy if you have any questions please feel free to let me know!

Rockin Red Lips!

30 Apr

I have always been a little nervous to do RED lips.  I have tried a couple times but never liked it, and never felt like it looked good.  This last year I either became brave enough to wear red lips or found the right color.  I think that it is a little bit of both.  The key is finding the right tone and the right shade.  If you are ivory/beige skin color you are usually better to do brighter not super dark.  Also if you have thinner lips you don’t want to do dark.  It will make your lips look even thinner.  Depending on your PH level in your skin the color of your lips might change the pigmentation of your lipstick.  If you tend to change your lipstick more pink or orange you are higher or lower on the PH level.  You need to balance it out before you put the red on so it doesn’t change.  Make sure you do a lip liner that is more orange if you go pink.  And if you go more orange you should go more pink.  Then you can put the red on and it won’t change the color so much if at all.  I found my absolute favorite.  Watch my clip if you want to know the best way to apply red lipstick!!  LOVE it.  I learned how to apply red lipstick from Robert Jones here is Robert doing a red lip at a photo shoot at Paisley Studios Click Here   So here is a question When is your favorite time to wear a red lip?  Do you like to wear a red dress or outfit, or do you like to wear something black, gray, or white?  Is it ok to wear red when you have a red lip?  Let me hear what you think.  I know what I think 🙂

Help Hide those blemishes in seconds!

23 Apr

How many of you have problems with ugly blemishes.  I found out this amazing trick that Makeup Artists use to take the redness of a blemish away. Take red eye visine and put it on a Q-Tip rub it on the blemish and the redness goes away in a minute.  It is awesome!!  Best thing ever.  After you reduce the redness you can conceal as normal see one of my other blog posts about how to conceal it.  Love highly pigmented liquid concealers.  Check it out!
